Do I need to work with an Accountant?

If you’re a freelancer or a small business owner, you may question the need for an accountant. This is understandable and the thought of spending funds on something you cannot see rather than more visible things like a new website or advertising that could potentially bring in funds, is a difficult one to swallow.

It’s very easy to think that as a small business owner you don’t need an accountant – and you’re only a small business so there can’t be much to filling in the tax forms, right?

When it comes to completing your accounts correctly, there can be much more than simply ‘completing the forms’. An accountant is there to guide your business and do the hard work for you, so you can focus on other parts of the business.

A good Accountant can help you establish the legal structure of your business, they will be up to date with the latest law and legislations as well as tax information and any relevant guidelines that are issued.

Do I need a Bookkeeper or an Accountant?

Whilst the two may appear to be the same profession there is a difference. Bookkeeping is the first part of the accounting process and is responsible for the recording of financial transactions whereas accounting is responsible for interpreting, classifying, analysing, reporting and summarising the financial data. In essence your Accountant will analyse the information provided by a Bookkeeper to forecast future needs and present the bigger financial picture.

The team at Kara are made up of both Bookkeepers and Accountants so we can assure you have the right solution for your financial requirements.
